Welcome to St. Clare Catholic Church

May Crowning 2015

St. Clare Catholic Church is an active community of approximately 175 families, located in Berea, Kentucky.

We gather for worship, faith formation, and education. Our mission, as a community of welcome and outreach, is to serve the needs and development of our faith family and build solidarity with our neighbors and beyond.

As Christian stewards, we believe that our time, talent and treasure are gifts from God to be used for the spiritual, educational and social needs of our community, diocese and the world at large.

St. Clare Pastor, Father Michael D. Flanagan, was raised in the Catholic faith and has been involved in the Catholic church since the age of 10 when he became an Altar Boy.

Father Flanagan holds a B.A. In Mathematics from Shippensburg State College in Wisconsin and attended Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, Wisconsin.

Father Flanagan, was ordained on May 15, 2010 by Bishop Ronald Gainer at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington, Kentucky, and on July 5, 2011 he was promoted to Pastor of St. Clare in Berea, Our Lady of Mount Vernon in Mt. Vernon, and St. Paul in McKee.

While Father Flanagan may still be relatively new to the St. Clare Parish he’s deeply committed to his faith and the growing St. Clare community. He has personally acted as sponsor for five RCIA initiates and enjoys participating in many charitable activities.

Whether you’re just visiting Berea, you’re new to town or you’d just like to drop in for a visit, St. Clare Catholic Church and our sister churches in Mt. Vernon and McKee welcome you into our family.
