The annual Fall Concert by the Berea College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, Stephen Bolster, conductor will be held on Sunday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Gray Auditorium on the Berea College Campus. The choral concert will be accompanied by Lindsay Clavere on the piano. There is no admission charge.
The first half of the concert features sacred music by a variety of composers, mostly contemporary American composers, sung by both choirs. It opens with a double-choir, antiphonal setting of Psalm 100 by German Baroque composer Heinrich Schültz.
The second half of the program features secular music consisting of folk songs, art songs, and opera. Selec-tions include folk song arrangements of Loch Lomond, Shenandoah, and Ev’ry Night When the Sun Goes Down and art songs by Heinrich Von Herzogenberg. The concert will conclude with a birthday celebration of Giuseppe Verdi with performances of special choruses from La Traviata and Aida and a birthday cake in honor of the 200th Anniversary of the composer’s birth.
