Berea Farmers Market has received grant funding to make fresh, farm produce more available to food insecure populations. SNAP recipients can now use their food stamps (E.B.T.) to purchase food (eggs, meat, bread, fruits & vegetables) and food bearing plants at the market.
$10 market vouchers are also being given to target populations (i.e.: Head Start, Food Banks, Literacy Program, Health Department, School Backpack Program) that can be used like E.B.T.
Double Dollars: The market is also working to raise $500 to help double E.B.T. purchases at the market. Once the $500 is raised, the market will receive an additional $1500 to double any E.B.T. purchase up to a $10. So, if a customer swipes their card for $10, they will be able to purchase $20 worth of farm fresh food.
