Habitat for Humanity will soon be starting a new home in Berea (on Washington Street) for the Reynolds Family, a young couple with four children, whose mobile home recently burned to the ground.
As part of the effort to get this house “off the ground”, St. Clare Church and Union Church are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner in hopes of raising enough money to pay for the roof of the house.
The Dinner will be held on October 5th, beginning at 5:30 (until 7:30-ish) at Union Church and will open to the entire Berea Community.
Members of St. Clare’s are asked to consider donations of food —- we need good homemade spaghetti sauce (there are a few terrific Italian cooks in this parish!!), as well as boxes of pasta, salads, bread, desserts, etc.
As we celebrated the Feast of St. Clare, we prayed to be like her and like St. Francis in reaching out to those in need. We are hoping that THIS event might be an all parish community effort to make it a success. Union Church will provide the space, as well as set up and clean up.
When ground is broken for the new home, you will have the opportunity, as you are able, to actually work on the house! This, too, will provide us with an opportunity to work together as a faith community to provide a family with a home.
More information and Sign up sheets will be available very soon.
