Today is the 50th Anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations.

Our diocese has been very blessed with sincere discerners, devoted men and women in formation, and many, many dedicated people who support and promote a culture of vocations.

Allow me to share some information and resources available to you regarding the World Day of Prayer for Vocations this year:

Our diocese currently has 15 seminarians. Three of them (Deacons Alan Carter, Arockiadas Arokiasamy, and Gary Simpson) will be ordained on May 18.

There are seven additional men at various stages in the application process. There are also eight women and two men in religious formation.

The Vatican released a special message from the Pope for this World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Please note that it was released ahead of time in October and is therefore now simply called, “Message of the Holy Father.

The USCCB has several other vocations prayers available when you visit their website.

A great way to get involved is to refer to our newest website, www.adoptaseminarian.com. The system will assign them one of our seminarians to keep in their prayers for three months, and the seminarian will in turn pray for them.
